JUNIOR COMPETITIVE ROWING

New York Rowing Junior Competitive Program

New York Rowing  is pleased to offer a competitive summer program for those rowers looking to compete as part of an elite team as well as to further develop their fitness level and rowing skills.

This eight week program will focus on developing the individual’s technical abilities as well as providing the opportunity for athletes to take their rowing to the next level. Primary emphasis will be on developing athletes in small boats which will compete at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta at the conclusion of the program. A typical training week will run Monday through Friday including multiple multiple on and off water sessions per day. Contained within the program is a series of physiological tests including VO2 max, anaerobic threshold, and flexibility testing as well as a body composition analysis.

Head Coach Matt Pearce (Durham University, Great Britain Rowing, US Junior Development Camps, Rowing South Africa) has prepared a program designed to hone the athlete’s on the water proficiency while challenging him or her to perform at the top level. All applicants aged 15-18 years that live in the greater New York City area and have varsity rowing experience are encouraged to join this fun, high energy, competitive summer team.
