New York Rowing Youth Novice Learn to Row
New York Rowing is pleased to announce our summer learn to row sessions. We provide athletes entering grades 6-9 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of rowing during a two week learn to row program. Three separate sessions are being offered this summer. Rowers are welcome to sign up for one, two, or all three sessions. The goal is to prepare young rowers for future participation in our junior competitive rowing programs while creating a welcoming, safe, and fun environment to learn about the sport of rowing.
The majority of training during these two week sessions will take place on the water in our rowing shells. Athletes will also participate in on land fitness training and basic equipment and safety workshops. Rowers will be able to demonstrate all they have learned during a inter-squad race that will take place at the conclusion of each session.
After a rower has completed the Learn to Row program, he or she is encouraged to join our competitive junior program in the Fall of 2012. Rowing is a lifelong sport that opens up a world of opportunity for athletes who want to be competitive at the high school, collegiate, and potentially national levels.
